No. 1 and Done

A starting lineup consisting of three Freshmen and two Sophmores is usually not considered the winning formula. But with John Calipari and the Wildcats, this is no problem. After signing three of the Top 10 recruits in the country, Kentucky found themselves ranked No. 2 to start the season, and did not look back.

With a near perfect season, with only losses to Indiana on a three-point shot at the buzzer, and a loss to Vanderbilt in the SEC Title Game, the Wildcats were unstoppable all season. Kentucky's win over the Kansas Jayhawks gave the school their 8th National Title, and if John Calipari continues coaching the Cats, the Bluegrass State could have more hardware on the way.

John Calipari's coaching career has been associated with scandal, after having his Final Four appearances with UMass and Memphis vacated by the NCAA. Despite this, Calipari has become one of the best coaches in College Basketball, best known for dveloping incredible NBA talent, including Derrick Rose, Tyreke Evans, John Wall, and DeMarcus Cousins.

John Calipari's championship team has no shortage of NBA talent, as their are six players on the Kentucky roster currently projected to be taken in the 1st Round of the NBA Draft. Of those six players, two are expected to be the first two players taken in the draft, Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd - Gilchrist.

After signing with Kentucky as the nation's top ranked recruit, Anthony Davis had a season for the ages for the Wildcats. Davis became only the second Freshman ever to win the Naismith Trophy(Top College Basketball Player), the other being former Texas F Kevin Durant. Davis finished Freshman year averaging a double-double with 14 PPG and 10 RPG. But what separated Anthony Davis from all of the other players was his shot blocking ability, averaging 4.7 BPG.

Anthony Davis, as well as many other players are expected to leave Kentucky for the NBA. This is not unusual for Coach Cal, as he has frequently coached "one and done" players, and has been able to maintain his incredible success. After losing five players, including John Wall, to the NBA two years ago, Calipari was able to replenish his team by signing current Pistons G Brandon Knight, as well as Terrence Jones. Calipari would go on to the Final Four that year, despite the losses.

Kentucky will most likely not be the team that they were this year, but the Wildcats could be set up for another Final Four run. Despite the likely losses of Davis, Kidd - Gilchrist, and multiple others, Calipari has done what he has always done best, recruit. Kentucky has already signed two 5-star recruits as well as one 4-star recruit, so they will have plenty of talent for next year.
