NFL Awards Tracker - Week 1

NFL MVP: Tom Brady

If a performance was ever flawless, this would be the performance. Brady started off the season lighting up Miami, passing for 517 yards and 4 scores. Tom Brady ended up passing fir the 5th most yards in a game in NFL history. It's obvious that the Patriots would not have stood a chance against Miami if Brady was not there. Brady and fellow QB Chad Henne put on a passing display. As Henne also passed for over 400 yards. My runner-ups are posted below.

2. Aaron Rodgers, QB Green Bay, Key Stats: 3 TD Passes, 132.1 Passer Rating

3. Matthew Stafford, QB Detroit, Key Stats: 3 TD Passes, 118.9 Passer Rating

NFL Offensive Player of the Year: Drew Brees

In a loss to Green Bay on Thursday night, Drew Brees stole the spotlight among the Saints. It was clear that the Saints did not lose because of Brees. Drew Brees threw for 419 yards and 3 TDs while helping New Orleans rack up 34 points. Brees also completed a remarkable 32 passes and put up incredible offensive numbers. My runner-ups are posted below.

2. Steve Smith, WR Carolina, Key Stats: 178 Reciving Yards, 8 Receptions

3. LeSean McCoy, RB Philadelphia, Key Stats: 8.1 Yards Per Carry, 2 Total TDs

NFL Defensive Player of the Year: Terrell Suggs

Terrell Suggs was maybe the most dominant force in Week 1, just ask Ben Roethlisberger. Suggs brought Roethlisberger down 3 times, along with forcing Ben to fumble twice. By the end of the day, Ben Roethlisberger was "wearing " Terrell Suggs. Honestly I can't think of any other words to describe the performance of Terrell Suggs except for, domination. My runner-ups posted below.

2. Ed Reed, S Baltimore, Key Stats: 2 Interceptions, 6 Tackles

3. Jason Babin, DE Philadelphia, Key Stats: 2 Sacks, 4 Tackles
