1. Mark Texeira (NYY) - Even though Texeira is only batting .244, he is 2nd in all of baseball with 25 Home Runs on the year, he is also 2nd in the American League with 65 RBIs.
2. Paul Konerko (CHW) - Konerko still has a chance to be voted in, he is one of five players in the Final Vote for the American League. Konerko is 4th in the AL in homers with 21, he also is 3rd in RBIs with 62, and lastly he is batting .317. Paul Konerko is actually a legitimate MVP contender.
3. Albert Pujols (STL) - Pujols has been out the past few weeks with a fractured forearm, many people have considered this a down year for Pujols, however I'm sure many other playeres would love to have his numbers. Pujols is tied for 5th in the NL with 17 Home Runs, his RBI numbers are not up with the other guys, but he is batting a modest .279.
4. Andre Eithier (LAD) - Finally, someone other than a 1st Baseman! Alot of people forget that Eithier started his year with a 30 game hit streak, extended from last season. Eithier does not have great power numbers, only hitting 7 Home Runs all year. However, Andre Eithier is 5th in the NL with a .322 batting average, and he is tied for 4th in hits with 98. Eithier still has a chance to get in with the Final Vote.
5. Alex Gordon (KC) - Gordon is another guy who can get in on the Final Vote. Alex Gordon doesn't get a lot of attention because he plays for the Royals, but he has had a great year, tied for 3rd in the American League with 98 hits, Gordon is also batting .301 with 10 Home Runs on the year.
6. CC Sabathia (NYY) - Sabathia could be the AL Cy Young when the season is over. He has 11 wins, tied for most in the majors. Sabathia also has 106 strikeouts, good enough for 6th best in the American League.
7. Jhonny Peralta (DET) - Peralta has had a great all around year for the Tigers. He is hitting .311, 7th in the American League. He has also hit 14 homers, to go with a respectable 48 RBIs.
8. Todd Helton (COL) - Helton still has a chance to be voted in via the Final Vote. Even though Helton has only played in 72 games thus far, he has compiled a .323 average which is tied for 3rd in the NL. Helton also has 9 homers to go with his 38 RBIs.
9. Ryan Howard (PHI) - One of the best 1st Baseman in the National League, Howard is tied for 5th with 17 Home Runs. Howard is also 2nd in the NL, to Prince Fielder, with 67 RBIs. Though Howard is only batting .253, his power numbers are good enough to have been selected.
10. Shane Victorino (PHI) - Another guy who can be voted in via the Final Vote. Victorino has only played in 67 games, however he has been very productive in those games batting .299 with 9 homers. Victorino is also a monster on the bases with 13 steals which is top 20 in the NL.
In my opinion, I believe ultimately that Paul Konerko and Andre Eithier will be selected to play in the All-Star Game via the Final Vote.

You made some good choices, but you rely way to heavily on past performance and power numbers. In this new league where batting average, OBP, and OPS are huge, you rely too much on home runs and RBIs. There is no way anyone with an average lower than .270 is an all-star, and Pujols is having a bad year for him, and he's injured so there is no way he should be in either.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mike! I'll keep that in mind for future references
